Nasal Douche

What is it?

A nasal douche washes the nose and removes crusts and debris. It will help you clear your nasal airways following surgery.

You may begin them the day after the operation.

To make the solution:

In a jug mix

Leave to cool until solution feels slightly warm to touch

To use solution:

Pour a small amount of the solution in the cupped palm of your hand; sniff it up your nose and then GENTLY blow out through both nostrils. Repeat several times.

Use the douche 3 times a day and EVERY DAY until your nose is clear - this may take up to a fortnight.

If you have a plaster of paris splint on your nose you should soak some cotton wool in the solution and sniff from this - it will avoid getting the splint wet.
