Nose Bleeds


Nose Bleeds or Epistaxis are very common, 10% of the population have experienced them at some point in their lifetime.

What causes nose bleeds?

There are many causes some acting locally on the nose others, the whole body

If you are having a nosebleed you should:

If the nosebleed persists for more that 30-40 min after using these measures or is especially heavy you chould contact your GP or go to A+E.

Medical Treatment

If you present to A+E with a bleeding nose there are several methods which may be used to stop the bleeding. A nasal pack is the mainstay of treatment
